Zermatt is a car free resort located in a German speaking area of Switzerland. Sitting at the foot of the famous Matterhorn it benefits from 365 day skiing due to the Matterhorn Glacier which also gives access to Cervinia, Italy.
We, better than anyone, understand the need for a challenge once you’ve learnt the ropes on the slopes. That’s why we’ve poured so much into developing our lessons for intermediate and advanced skiers. We can help you perfect your technique on the steep slopes of Zermatt’s black runs, or delve into freestyle or off-piste skiing. Whatever you want to specialise in as a skier, we’ve got instructors with the skills to help you get there.
Private lessons are the best choice for improving technique and confidence on snow.
Private, Freestyle specific & Off Piste lessons all available with our incredible snowboard team.
Zermatt is Switzerland’s only resort offering brilliant skiing every single day of the year. The Matterhorn Glacier Paradise reaches up to 3,883 metres in altitude, meaning you can access high-altitude glacier runs with consistent snow, even in the middle of summer. Non-stop skiing? What more do you want? Train like the pros, utilising summer skiing slopes during the off-season and discover just how great a skier you can be.
We teach every age and ability that comes through our Zermatt ski school, from three year olds taking their first slide to adults coming back after a decade away from the snow. Our kids lessons run in small groups matched by age and standard, so little ones learn alongside children skiing at a similar level and usually go home having made a few friends along the way. Adults can choose group courses for a sociable week on the mountain or private ski lessons for focused time with one instructor. If you are a returning skier hoping to shake off the rust before the rest of the family arrives, two shorter sessions at the start of the week is money well spent.
Zermatt's ski area splits into three main sectors and we make use of all of them. Beginners start on the wide blue runs above Sunnegga, where the gradient is gentle and the lifts are quick, which means more time actually skiing. Stronger skiers head over to Gornergrat and Rothorn for long, rolling descents, or up towards Klein Matterhorn when the snow up high is at its best.
Our qualified instructors check the weather and conditions each morning before deciding where to take you, so your lesson always suits both the mountain and your group rather than following a fixed script.
Our snowboard team teaches riders of every standard, and we run private snowboard lessons for anyone who prefers learning at their own pace. Freestyle sessions make use of Zermatt's two snowparks, while our off piste days take stronger riders onto quieter terrain away from the marked pistes, including the tree runs back down towards the village that most visitors never find. Beginners spend their first morning on flat ground working on edge control, balance and safe stopping before moving up the mountain, which builds real confidence rather than rushing you onto slopes you are not ready for.
The ski season here never really ends, but the busiest weeks are Christmas, February half term and Easter, and our instructors fill up months in advance for those dates. Book early if you want a particular time slot or a specific member of our team. January and late March tend to be quieter, with shorter lift queues and better value accommodation, which makes them our favourite weeks for group lessons. Summer skiing on the glacier finishes by early afternoon, so plan lessons for the morning and keep the rest of the day for hiking or biking.
There are plenty of good snow sports schools in the Alps, and we would rather earn your booking than claim to be one of the best ski schools without backing it up. What we offer is continuity. Families book the same instructor year after year, which means we already know your children, their confidence on steep slopes and what makes them laugh on a chairlift. We also keep our team small enough that the person answering your email has skied with the instructor teaching you.
If you are unsure which lesson is the right offer for your group, send us a message and we will talk it through honestly.
