The Walliserhof sits right in the middle of Bahnhofstrasse, in the heart of Zermatt. It’s one of the village’s oldest hotels, run by the same family since 1938, and it has that unhurried, lived-in feel you only get from a place that’s been looked after by the same people for generations.

How fit do I need to be?

Hikes are typically 7–10 km per day and suit easy, moderate and challenging hikers alike. Routes can be shortened or extended depending on fitness and ability, so the group is never held to one pace.

Is any climbing experience needed?

None at all. There is no technical climbing on this trip, no ropes, crampons or glacier travel. Terrain is alpine meadows, mountain trails, forest paths, valleys, passes and rocky alpine routes.

Where do we stay?

Seven nights at the historic Hotel Walliserhof in central Zermatt, with daily breakfast and evening meals included, plus a welcome dinner and a farewell tapas evening.

Are lift passes included?

Yes — the lift passes required for each hiking day are included, as are your guides. International flights, transfers to Zermatt, insurance, lunches and drinks are not.

What about lunches?

Mountain restaurants are available throughout the week, and packed lunches can also be purchased. Bring 1–2 litres of water and high-energy snacks each day.

How do I get to Zermatt?

Zermatt is car-free and reached by train from Geneva or Zürich via Visp. Transfers aren’t included, but we’ll happily advise on the best route and timings for your flights.
