
Avoriaz village is based up the mountain and can be accessed either by the Prodains cable car or via road although you will need to leave your car in the car park before entering the village. With most the roads doubling up as ski runs this provides the unique experience to ski or board through the village. You can slide to many lovely restaurants, bar to bar or to the supermarket to pick up all the essentials. Your accommodation can be reached either by horse and cart or with one of the shuttles. The majority of chalets, apartments and hotel are truly ski in ski out which adds to the charm of Avoriaz and ensures you can always enjoy the mountain first to last lift.
2. Easy Access to Switzerland
Being able to ski in both France and Switzerland is one of the attractions that makes the Porte Du Soleil special. Staying in Avoriaz puts you close to the boarder with no need to jump on a bus in the morning. Simply click or strap in and you can head into Switzerland with just two chair lifts. Tackle the Swiss wall or take a more leisurely route up the Mossettes and even grab a treat from the cookie cafe on route.
3. Suits All Abilities
Avoriaz has something for everyone from super long green and blue runs for those taking to snowsports for the first time to a variety of black runs and easy to access off piste runs if you are treated to some powder. Just make sure you have all the kit a one of our PDS Snowsport ski or snowboard instructor to help you make the most of it in a safe and enjoyable way.

If you love a snow park then Avoriaz and its neighbouring resorts will have you spoilt for choice. Our ski instructors particularly enjoy laps of both the Stash and mini stash with their children group ski lessons. The stash is a run made up of wooden features hidden in Avoriaz’s tree runs with a mix or natural and purpose built features. If you fancy learning some more advanced tricks or hitting the big jumps in the snows park then a private ski or snow board lesson might be your best option to master rails, boxes, spins and flips.
5. Neighbouring Resorts
Avoriaz is at the heart of the Portes Du Soleil and is linked to 12 village resorts making it part of one of the worlds largest ski areas. Being so central makes it the perfect place to base yourself if you would like to try and visit them all. It also makes it easier to evade the crowds during peak weeks and to really explore everything the PDS has to offer with no fear of not making the last lifts back.
Bonus Fact – Avoriaz has an average snowfall of 7.5 meters! That makes it the snowiest resort in the whole of France, that has to make you want to visit Avoriaz!
